True Face

This drawing was meant to convey the idea that I walk around wearing a mask like most people, a mask of peace and smiles covering my true face.  My true face being more horrific than a mask, rational mind replaced with a broken heart,  eyes full of terror in a face twisted by the useless intricate details of pointless dreams. This one was very difficult to finish but at this point I could do with allot of self criticism.

Congo Temple

This drawing was a attempt to revisit the beautiful world I had lived in with Kelsey, a world I truly feel banished from even tho I'm the one who created it.  Even tho it hurts tremendously it is still nice to view it from afar.

Character Study Homie 1

Drew this trying to get a more natural posture in my character drawings. Im very happy with how it turned out.  I modeled the guy to look like my friend Paige's boyfriend AJ.  I hope to do more with this stylized look.

Jungle Tribal #2

I love this piece, too bad my buddy Mike thought he could have it in return for helping me move a few times.  It depicts quite well the lush, glowing, and writhing nature of the jungles in my head.

Jungle Tribal #1

I think this might be the first true oil painting i ever did.  I knew I wouldn't be able to make it look realistic so instead I tried to break up the space well with interesting shapes and colors.  The patterning in the red fern reveals a hidden signature.  As far as the theme goes I have been moving in a very nature/tribal society direction with my art for awhile and this piece may have been the beginning to that move.

Old Man in the Sea

This was a painting i did based on a drawing i had done earlier. I was trying to create a benevolent water spirit, something old yet wise and amazing. I especially love the lion-fish style patterning.

Devotion Banner

This was a banner i did for my at the time girlfriend Kelsey. It symbolized the combination of the positive and nurturing life of my forest mixing with the her barren and bleak outlook on life and herself and creating a beautiful vista full of wonder, love, and extra big "feelers". this whole picture is a mass of mini metaphors for how much i loved her and how my life was hers . .

Crystal Jungle

This was the painting i did for Kelsey for Christmas. The vines and dark places represent the chaos the world puts into my heart and soul and the heart shaped fruits were the light that our love creates to illuminate and make beautiful even the scariest and darkest places in our lives.

View to Colorado

This was the second goblin valley painting i did. I was trying to capture the view from the top of the mesa looking back off the backside at the massive plain. It was life changing to be there in many ways, the largest change being i finally dropped my anti nature city boy stance and embraced the one thing about Utah that was certain. Its a damn beautiful place.

Bend in the Brook

This piece was one of the group inspires by the Angkor Wat ruins in Cambodia. I envisioned a place where artists toiled endlessly to keep the city from being swallowed by the tireless and starving jungle. I failed at a few of the ideas i wanted to implement like the cast shadows of the canopy foliage and the atmosphere . . oh well it was difficult to pull off with inks and by that point i didn't dare ruin the picture to experiment. I was already about 45 hours into it at that point.

Goblin Valley #1

This is by far my favorite place in the world. This is based on my imagination of the place as all my paintings of it will be. The sprawling phallic spires, the countless paths through the red and white and almost glow in the dark green dust are often new each time i navigate my mind through their breathtaking corridors.

Samurai Self Portrait #1

This is a digital portrait i did of myself. Was going for a cybernetic samurai look lol and sort of got it. Anyways i looove digital. This took an hour where it would've taken weeks to paint. I was at peace with the world when i did this one.

Jungle Cliffs #1

This picture is one of my personal favorites. The giant cliff looming over the atmosphere saturated jungle is a place i visit often. The leering, fanged faces of the Mayan-esque carvings are also staples of my worlds. The fairy and hookah are just symbolic of doing whatever it takes to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty that is life and circumstance. This piece was done with Micron drafting pens and Prismacolor markers, as are pretty much all of my finished inks.
